I became interested in the history of Ellis Island because some of my ancestors from Italy passed through the immigration station of the Island. I included information on how many immigrants came through the island, the top 3 countries they came from, and the immigrants by nationality between 1899 and 1910. I chose to include the New York skyline and the Statue of Liberty because it was some of the first landmarks the immigrants saw when entering the United States. For many, this was a new beginning and way of life in the land of opportunity.
